What was the highlight of Matilda Hotel Vassilikos

Peaceful stay with utilitarian but outdated room.

The bathroom sink and cabinetry was spacious. Balcony had a beautiful view. It was quiet and convenient for Vassilikos beaches. The room wasn’t uncomfortable. I used the couch for suitcases. Bed was ok. Room was cleaned daily. I like the restaurant onsite but since the breakfast buffet was so poor I had no desire to experiment with dinner there. I liked feeling safe with enclosed fence around the hotel.

Really ugly room with Ancient room decor, poor lighting, breakfast full of bready options, no fresh eggs or fruit. It’s a beautiful property that is highly outdated, so in need of a renovation. No ice on floors. Mini glasses that don’t get washed. Hard pillows. The key given for the exterior door never worked. The walk to my room outside always soaking wet and the steps of the doorway always had cigarettes, a cup of coffee and ashtray. Totally unprofessional.

For a perfect stay in Zakynthos

Beautiful location, nice staff, close to Banana Beach, Gerakas and Dafni + other beautiful beaches , almost everything is OK.

It make the judgement a lot worse that the big boss (or owner) is left behind about 30 years not allowing you to have two biscuits from the breakfast table in the early morning when you leave for an excursion, making a big scandal from this. The staff was very nice packing for us two sandwiches and two cakes in the evening after asking them, but this scandal of the boss was very inapropiate and not in line with the overall evaluation of the Hotel.

Excellent! Highly recommended.

Staff were incredibly accommodating. Extremely friendly too. They even found some jewelry left behind accidentally by one of us and promptly called us to return it. The place was also very good. We had rented a car so it was easier to go around everywhere with it from the hotel. All the good beaches are also close by.

Nice hotel if you have a car

The best thing about this hotel is people who runs it. All staff been extremely helpful and nice.

If you don’t have a car, the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Very nice beach is kilometer away, but to reach it you need to walk down the road with no sidewalk. We also think they could improve their breakfast game a bit. We were struggling to find what to eat.

quite a good hotel but surely not 4 stars.

The breakfast was plentiful, but not varied. Every day the same: eggs, eggs and eggs... some cheese some ham some fruits but every day the same.

The staff was very kind and helpful. The room was cleaned up every day, they changed the towels every second day. Too many mosquitos during the night no nets on the windows, we had to buy a repellent.

Location is great

Location was great away from all the busy area. Tip for who is thinking to book this hotel: You need to have a car otherwise may not be convenient location. Very quiet. Bed was comfortable Very spacious wardrobe.

Bathroom is very small. Breakfast was ok however missing a toaster. Room given was not exactly front sea view looked more like a side view but was ok still had very nice sleep and could still see the sea when waking up

Good deal for the money that you pay

Great location for those of you who are looking for some peace and calm, away from all the parties and the noise. Also you should know that Vasilikos has the best, sandy beaches on the island. The location of the hotel is kind of isolated so you definitely need a car in order to reach the beaches or the supermarket .Beautiful views- our balcony had a pool and seaside view, amazing, friendly staff and clean rooms.

The air conditioning did not work properly… it took about 4-5 hrs for it to cool down the room, but luckily we had a good old fan in the room. The bathroom needs immediate restoration and the water from the pipes is not potable- it is salty and for me it caused some skin problems. The breakfast could also use some improvements

If you want to be treated like a friend and not a tourist - Matilda is the place.

The staff at Matilda Hotel is exceptional and very hard-working. They made us feel very comfortable during our stay. We were even treated a dinner on the hotel with traditional and delicious meals, free desserts and additional perks during our stay. The hotel has a private garden with olive trees, vines, beach, apricot, lime trees, where we had a very nice evening walk. Our stay was during the end of the season, so we had the hotel almost to ourselves, which really contributed to our rest and relaxation. The room we were given had an amazing sea view and we had a little terrace where we were able to enjoy it with a drink! We liked the fact that Matilda Hotel preserves elements of old architecture and renovates only what needs attention. Matilda's rooms are very charming and you will notice that the doors and door knobs, some of the furniture, the windows are preserved and as good as new. We appreciated this sustainability approach very much! The hotel is tidy and clean. It has a free parking outside, there is a supermarket nearby (approx. 1km away), there are several very good beaches around.

Just a few tips on improvement - the air conditioning was almost working and the Wifi connection in our room was not stable.

The absolute value for money for decent holidays in this nice island.

It was the absolute value for money. Excellent location, good privacy, facilities and services fully met the expectation , stuff were natural, friendly and proactive to serve, breakfast was adequate. I travel much both for personal and business reasons and can realize that this hotel was very well designed to the last point. Rooms seem also most being very well positioned with similar well level of services.

Honestly did not find anything wrong. Someone could only seek extra luxury which was not necessary. Hotel was a good match with island, which both upgraded my appetite to return back.

Pleasant stay, but not a 4-star hotel.

The staff was very friendly. The facilities outside are very pretty and well taken care of on a daily basis. There is a very nice view, fine pool and pool bar and very good a la carte food served over there (at the pool bar). The bed was very comfortable.

If the hotel rated themselves as a 3 star hotel with exceptional outside facilities, I think no one would be able to be disappointed. However, presenting themselves as a 4 star hotel, the place unfortunately doesn't meet the expectations at all. Overall, it seems that you can't complain, everything you might need is there available for you, but there are those little details that count (very much), that make your stay less comfortable or pleasant. Some of them other commenters already mentioned; like the shower, which is very small (an old bathtub in which you can hardly stand). On top of that due to the condition of the shower head holder, the shower head was falling on our heads. Another little detail was the drinks selection at the breakfast. Artificial juices and water from a big container that had a strange taste. We wish the hotel realised that investing in those little details would elevate their standard greatly. Of course, you could get much higher quality of beverages at the pool bar at an extra charge, but this is not the point.

Disappointing

The staff was kind and helpful(except for the housekeepers). The location was also good for us, close to Zante town and our favorite beaches.

-This is not a 4 star hotelat all, the room looks like a 2 star and the bathroom is worse than in a hostel. -The breakfast was very poor and cheap. The ham and cheese had a sour taste. -Loud music on the hotel terrace bar until midnight, we had to ask to change the room. -Housekeepers are making a lot of noise early in the morning between 7 and 9 AM. One morning one of the housekeepers was yelling in the phone in front of our door. -The bathroom is very small, outdated and dirty, it's really a challenge to take a shower there.
